The Midland Fire Department Softball team is raising funds in an attempt to attend and compete in the
2011 World Police & Fire Games in New York City.

Below is some information from 2011 WPFG website.

“The games will respectfully coincide with the ten year remembrance of September 11, 2001.
The 2011 World Police & Fire Games will be empowered by two themes:
Remembrance, (We will always remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001) and
Gratitude. (An opportunity for all New Yorkers to thank the world for the support that flooded into New
York City.)

The World Police & Fire Games are currently the second largest multi sport event in the world,
surpassed only by the summer Olympics. Our goal is to make these games the largest, most
memorable sporting event the world has ever seen.”

The MFD softball is made up of firefighters from the Midland Fire Department. The City of Midland and
the Department do not fund this team in anyway. Over the years the players on this team have paid for
their yearly trips to the Texas Firefighter Olympics out of their own pocket. We have had different
uniform sponsors over the years but entry fees for league, Olympic play, and travel have always been
up to each player to pay. We are seeking financial support for the first time in team history so that we
might be able to lower the out-of-pocket expenses for each player.
